A space for dialogue, shared experiences and collective knowledge

14 Oct 2026

On 14 October, the International Institute for the Sociology of Law (IISL) had the pleasure of welcoming Maider Maraña Saavedra, Director of the Baketik Foundation, and her colleagues for a meeting dedicated to social transformation, human rights and conflict resolution. Representing the IISL were its Scientific Director, Camilo Umaña,  several members of the research team, visiting scholars and former Master’s students who are now pursuing doctoral research on issues related to institutional violence and organised violence.

The meeting focused on two main objectives: discussing Maider’s recent publication, Contar lo vivido, through a shared reading of one of its chapters, and exploring the launch of a small study group to exchange research questions, perspectives and findings. It was an opportunity to foster collective knowledge through dialogue, attentive listening and the sharing of experiences, building bridges between academic research and initiatives committed to human rights and social transformation.

Many thanks to Maider and the entire Baketik Foundation team for their visit, generosity and the opportunity for such a meaningful exchange. We hope this meeting will mark the beginning of a fruitful collaboration.
