Legal Profesions and Stakeholders in the Global and Digital World
EHU Module "Legal Professions, Theory and Practice" (3 ECTS)
The main objective of the proposed course is to foster a debate on the impact of globalization and digitalization on the administration of justice and, more specifically, its impact on judicial organization, the legal professions, and other stakeholders.
COURSE CONTENT
The mass media reflects the voice of the citizenry. It shows public opinion and, therefore, to a certain extent, represents society. The press acts as an influential social agent in the legal sphere by informing and shaping public opinion on legal issues, making legal language more accessible to society.
In a digitalized world where mass media is expanding its influence globally, it has become a highly influential factor that can exert pressure on courts and other legal operators involved in the justice system, giving a voice to citizens who would otherwise have no way of making their problems heard.
Furthermore, the phenomenon of digitization is allowing different operators, professionals, and stakeholders related to the field of law, who previously had little influence, to become protagonists in this new scenario.
