IISL COVID-19 Protocol

Prevention Measures:

  1. It is the responsibility of all members of the IISJ community to contribute to the strict compliance with the protection measures aimed to control and reduce the transmission of COVID-19.
  2. Check your body temperature every day before coming to the IISL. If you have any symptom suggestive of the COVID-19 disease (body temperature of 37ºC or higher, dry cough or tiredness, etc.), you must not come to the IISL.
  3. Do not come to the IISL if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or if you are in isolation or quarantine due to having been in close contact with a diagnosed person, or if you are awaiting results of a diagnostic test.
  4. If you belong to a risk group, follow the indications of your primary health provider.
  5. If you belong to a risk group, contact the IISL (maintenance@iisj.es) and provide a medical certificate to verify your situation. Once this is analyzed, you will be informed of the specific measures for your case.
  6. Do not greet others with a kiss or a hug. Restrict physical contact. Remember that shouting, singing, or blowing increases the risk of spreading the virus by respiratory droplets or aerosols.
  7. Wear a mask properly and at all times (covering your nose, mouth and chin) in all the spaces of the university, including common spaces (library, classrooms, corridors, cloister…), even if there is no close proximity to others. Using a mask is mandatory whenever there is a shared use of a common space, or in corridors, meetings, or in any other situation where there is a close proximity to others.
  8. Always maintain a safety distance of at least 1.5 m. between you and others. Please follow the signals and the established maximum capacity indications for each room.
  9. Wash your hands thoroughly before going into the classroom. Wash your hands before and after using the toilet, either with water and soap or with alcohol-based hand-rub.
  10. Always use the same chair or desk in the classroom or library. Do not move any piece of furniture unless there is a justified reason, and communicate this to your teacher or to the IISL staff.
  11. As far as possible, do not share your personal belongings or study material with others. If you need to share, use alcohol-based hand-rub. Keep your personal belongings clean at all times.
  12. As far as possible, do not make payments in cash, and do not use paper.

Always follow the health recommendations and the measures from the health authorities. For more information: http://www.iisj.net/en/about-iisl/covid-19

Response Measures:

  • Every person who comes to the IISL must first go to the administration-library for a thermal scan. If the body temperature is equal to, or higher than 37ºC, they will be asked to have a second scan after 15 minutes. If the second scan is consistent with the first, the Protocol will be activated.
  • If the person can go back home, they will be requested to do so. If they are not able to go home, they will be isolated in the Arnaud room. The IISL COVID-19 Coordinator will be informed by a call on her cell phone, and she will activate the COVID-19 Protocol and call the Basque health service (Osakidetza).
  • The person should provide the following data:
  • Name and last name
  • Date of birth
  • Passport
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Health card (EU citizens)
  • Until the test results come back, no special action will be taken regarding the people who have been in close contact, and the IISL’s activities will go on as usual. Hygiene measures will be strengthened.

If the person tests positive, the IISL will be at the disposal of the Basque Health Department and of the Basque Government and will follow their indications.

  • Phone numbers of interest: Oñati health centre (+34 943 03 54 30) / COVID-19 hotline (900 20 30 50).
  • Any member of the IISL community who has tested positive or is in confinement or quarantine must inform the IISL COVID-19 Coordinator immediately by email to maintenance@iisj.es
  • The IISL will make the appropriate arrangements with the Basque Health Department, Social Security or insurance companies and will follow the procedures indicated for each case.
  • The IISL already enforces cleaning and disinfection measures, and will strengthen them if the protocol is activated.
  • The IISL calls on the individual responsibility of all members of the IISL community, and will take any measure needed to ensure the welfare and the common good. In the case of a repeated or serious infringement, the IISL may decide to evict the offender from the IISL premises.
  • As far as possible, the IISL will facilitate the access to its digital resources related to the academic or work programme of the person affected by the restrictions.

Communication measures:

  • If the IISL COVID-19 protocol is activated and in the event of a positive test result of infection with COVID-19, the IISL COVID-19 Coordinator will manage the internal communication with all the members of the IISL Community.
  • The IISL is committed to cooperating on the identification and following of the persons who may have been in close contact with the COVID-19 positive person.

Principles:

The IISL will comply with the measures and recommendations from the competent authorities, according to these principles and previsions:

  • The implementation and application of measures will follow the principle of proportionality and of the utmost respect to the people involved, ensuring that the principle of prevention prevails.
  • Particular efforts will be made to avoid causing alarm, and to provide precise, uniform and transparent information.
