Biografía:

Currently, I am in the final year of my doctoral research at the Department of Education Sciences of the University of Antwerp. During my doctorate, I have been a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow at the European research consortium 'Solidarity in Diversity' or SOLiDi (https://www.solidi.eu/). Prior to that, I lived and worked as a teacher of Social Sciences, Global Politics and Theory of Knowledge in the Netherlands and at the deliberately diverse campuses of United World Colleges (UWCs) in Norway and the Kingdom of Eswatini. I also worked as a research consultant for UNICEF, Office of Research – Innocenti, on children’s life skills for well-being. While my latest research focus and professional experiences have mainly centred on education, my parallel research concern focuses on citizenship, bordering and mobility. In my doctoral research, I combine these concerns by focusing on citizenship, diversity and education in secondary schools. I approach these questions from an empirical and theoretical case study research design. Combining these concerns is especially relevant in contexts, such as Belgium and the Netherlands, where national populisms have been rising and schools are increasingly obliged to pay attention to citizenship education goals due to recent educational reforms.
