Today, 4 October, IISL has hosted the open seminar Beyond the usual: Law and Culture in Special Contexts. Three Examples: Inuit Customary Law and Emotionality, Deviant actors and Political Agency: the case of South Africa and the EU experiments. It has been conducted by Sean Robertson (University of Alberta), Deon Geldenhuys (University of Johannesburg) and Joxerramon Bengoetxea (UPV/EHU).

Professor Bart van Klink (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) has conducted the seminar titled The Global Rise of Populism today at the IISL, with several alumni and visiting professors in attendance, together with this year's master programme students. The seminar was part of the course Comparative Legal Culture, led by Joxerramon Bengoetxea.
