Egun on / good morning, The European Forum for Restorative Justice (EFRJ), together with the Department of Labour and Justice of the Basque Government and the University of Deusto have organized a two-day Symposium entitled "From Criminal Mediation to Restorative Justice", with a very practical and participatory format that makes it especially attractive. The symposium is in English but there will be a translation into Spanish in the plenary sessions, as well as workshops in Spanish. I encourage you to attend the event that will also involve the presentation of the new Restorative Justice Service of the Basque Country, framed in Recommendation CM / Rec (2018) 8 of the Council of Europe to the Member States on matters of restorative justice approved on October 3, 2018. We will have facilitators and experts in Restorative Justice from all over Europe to be able to learn with them and share our experiences and practices. Here are some of them: http://www.euforumrj.org/uncategorized/efrj2019-symposium-get-know-speakers/ Also to make the event even more attractive, on 5 June at 20:30, in the spectacular centre of contemporary culture and art Azkuna Zentroa https://www.azkunazentroa.eus/az/ingl/home , after a standing dinner, there will be a representation of the piece “La mirada del otro” of the Theatre company Project 43-2 http://www.proyecto432.com/la-mirada-del-otro/ . The work is based on restorative encounters between ETA prisoners and victims that took place in the Nanclares prison (Araba). The theatre group has been trained in Restorative Justice and they give themselves training and contribute an artistic vision in which the EFRJ has also been involved. In addition, we will have for the subsequent debate Esther Pascual, a mediator who was responsible for the team of mediators who carried out these meetings, together with the actress and play wright María San Miguel and the expert in Restorative Justice and victimology Gemma Varona, who have collaborated together exploring the possibilities of art and Restorative Justice. I would appreciate it very much if you spread this event as much as possible so that it is a successful participation and puts the countries of southern Europe at the forefront of Restorative Justice. Eskerrik asko, thank you very much,
Roberto Moreno Head of the Justice Service for Adults.
