Nunes Pozzebon, Gabriel
I am studying the political thought of James Madison, who served as the fourth President of the United States, from 1809 to 1817, and was one of the masterminds behind the drafting of the United States Constitution and the United States Bill of Rights. I am specially interested in the political theory exposed by Madison in The Federalist Papers, a collection of articles and essays written by Madison himself, Alexander Hamilton and John Jay, to promote the ratification of the United States Constitution in America after the War of Independence carried out against Britain. My focus at this point is to study the meaning of "republican government" as it is described in this political document.
I am nothing but grateful to the oportunity that was given to me by the IISL community. I was warmly received by the students and the staff, and really enjoyed my stay.
