The aim of this course is to debate different dynamics and understandings of globalization and their impact in the legal systems. On one side, globalization is determining a standardization of legal formulae and legal professions. On the other side, counter-hegemonic uses of law are also willing to have a global scope.
The objectives are to familiarize students with in-depth debates on the following topics:
• Globalization-from-above and globalization-from-below;
• Hegemonic and counter-hegemonic forms of globalization
• Impacts of globalization at the level of national legal systems
• Impacts of globalization at the level of international law
• Global counter-hegemonic uses of law
